September- October 2025
My experience as a resident at the Ant Project was incredibly enriching. I had the sense that I was witnessing an exciting moment for Mexico City as an emerging global epicenter for contemporary art. The community is highly active, critically engaged, and connected to its history. Guadalupe welcomed me into her home, shared her knowledge and love of Mexico, connecting me to relevant research and a vast network of artists and curators, many of whom are her close friends. Discussions over the dinner table or during car rides to events helped me contextualize new findings against a broader understanding of the art world. The residency was both an immersion and respite. I left with a clear sense of development as a painter, a deeper understanding of Mexico, and many reasons to return.
