Nadine Faraj
Faraj is represented by Anna Zorina Gallery and McBride contemporain. "I make watercolour paintings with raunchiness, humour, tenderness and soul. I paint portraits and sexualized figures in varying degrees of abstraction often drawn from the world of erotica. My fluid style allows figures to emerge as deeply psychological and emotional beings with a full sense of their humanity. Recently my works have addressed issues of human rights, LGBTQI activism, feminisms and sex and body positivity. I depict people in such a way as to point to the value of our embodied experience and our relationships. I use a form of Neo-expressionism meant to be rewarding to experienced viewers as well as to those new to art. Formally speaking, I pursue lightness and a quality where forms sometimes dissolve like memories."

What an amazing way to touch the spectrum of humanity in its rawness and its intrinsic honesty. The expressions, potentiated by the indefiniteness of water bring to the surface a deeper layer of the pain and joy, all existing in the same fluidity that nurtures life.

“…forms sometimes dissolve like memories.” But the impression of the dissolving form shakes our consciousness, witnessing our own dissolution into a watery color wiping, undifferentiated from its source.
