These small bowls/cups, or charolas, as bowls are called in New Mexico, are hand pressed into a 3D printed mold using micaceous New Mexico clay and designed for serving atole, a breakfast drink whose primary ingredient is ground blue corn and can include salt, juniper ash, chocolate, cinnamon, and local honey. Micaceous clay is able to withstand heat shock and can be used for cooking, and is traditionally used in New Mexico to make ceramic pots to cook beans over fire. At the bottom of each. cup is a dicho, or saying, to remind us of truth.
